Dissolve in the thoughts of home

Dissolve in the thoughts of home is a mixed-media video installation in vertical format. Video of DongJiang (or the East River of Guangdong, China) is edited in a 16:3 aspect ratio, simultaneously showing the scenes of upper, middle, and lower streams on 3 vertically stacked screens. Interactions between people and the river are revealed, differing across natural and artificial landscapes, but always similarly in the most intimate form.

From a small stream among the distant hills, it flows and pours, turning into the vast river of Dongjiang (东江, the East River of Guangdong, China). Across the town of the faraway home, it flows and pours, carrying pieces of home in its droplets. On the blue planet full of water, it flows and pours, entering the interconnectedness of the closing loop.

He stood in the East River of New York, 12000 kilometers away from the East River of his hometown, but still connected with the water he calls home. Freezing tide washes the shore and mind, in the contemplation of emptiness, he dissolves in the water he is standing in.

Dissolve in the thoughts of home
